ADMINISTRATION OF GEORGE W. ARMENTROUT
George W. Armentrout, the ninth Master of Broad Ripple Lodge, was born December 10, 1869 near the Hamilton-Marion County line. On September 8, 1892, he was married to Daisy D. Dawson, to which union three children were born, Ruth Lois, and Roland. The eldest daughter, Ruth, passed away on December 24, 1934.
Early in his life he became associated with the Central Union Telephone Company in whose employ he remained until his retirement. He was for years a member of Broad Ripple Methodist Church.
Brother George was Initiated into Masonry, April 17, 1903; Passed to the Degree of Fellow craft, May 1, 1903; and Raised to the Sublime Degree, May 15, 1903. He is also a member of Scottish Rite, and Broad Ripple Chapter O.E.S. He served as Patron of the latter organization for seven years — 1913-1915, and 1925-1928. He discharged with credit his duties as Worshipful Master of Broad Ripple Lodge during the year 1912, and after his year in the East continued to take a lively interest in its meetings and in its welfare.
Lodge Events of 1912
The growth of the Lodge continued and many new members were added to the membership roll. Among those were some who have served our Order well and have displayed a continued interest in the welfare of the Lodge.
On December 31, a charity supper was held from which financial assistance to replenish the relief fund was realized.
By the end of the year marking the tenth anniversary of its formation, the Lodge had grown from its initial membership of twenty-one to a roll listing one hundred and thirty-three members.
